Sten Stray-Gundersen, CSCS

Sten Stray-Gundersen is a researcher and practitioner in the field of blood flow restriction training. He earned his Master of Science degree and PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas at Austin, where his research focused on the cardiovascular safety profile and vascular responses to blood flow restriction and hypoxia. Now, as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of South Carolinas Sports Science Lab, he teaches cardiovascular physiology, performs research on a wide-range of sports-related topics including blood flow restriction, human resilience, ergogenic aids, and vascular physiology. As a practitioner and educator, Stray-Gundersen has worked with high-level Olympic athletes and elite military personnel regarding blood flow restriction training and he presents on blood flow restriction-related content throughout the country.
