OBJECTIVES: - Acknowledge the fundamental differences between a traditional 3 sport (per year) athlete and the multi-sport/same season athlete that we are encountering more these days - Discuss the use of "sport specific" training in regards to an athlete who may play different sports at the same time, and what "sport specific" may mean in that case - How to design and implement a safe and effective short and long term program that allows the multi-sport athlete to both physiologically and psychologically develop

Snatch and Jerk Teaching Progressions for the S&C Coach

In this seminar, I will introduced participants to basic terminology, positions, teaching progressions for the snatch and the jerk. In the snatch, I will emphasize working from the hip and the knee. For the jerk, I will review different jerk styles and emphasize the split jerk. By the end of the seminar, participants will have a basic working knowledge of the mechanics of these movements, how best to teach them, as well as some basic cues to assist in error correction.

The Cervical Spine: What a Pain in the Neck

Disseminate current literature and background on how the neck plays a role in neck pain, concussion prevention, injury prevention and how easily it can be trained. This topic is meaningful from youth to older adults, and for athletes and non-athletes. Currently there is either misinformation, or a complete lack of knowledge/importance allocated to the neck in mainstream training and rehabilitation practices.
